 The Castle Courtyard

Standing behind the castle looking to the left down the tapeline towards the staging area.  The extensions on the end of the Castle prevent players from playing around the end of the Castle itself. They are allowed to shoot across the string but not cross the plane of the string. The extension also has 3 ground level shooting slots for the Defenders or Attackers to use.  The Defenders insert just to the left of where I am standing when I took this shot.

horizontal rule

A shot from the back looking straight out the front door.  The flagpole is in the center of the spool.  The two Mini-Castles are for additional cover for the Defenders.   This is an early shot as the grass is starting to take over.

horizontal rule

Shot of the right side of the Castle looking down the right tape line.  The Graveyard of Paintball Past is down this side.

horizontal rule

A shot of the Courtyard looking from the right to the left.  There is a good bit of grass growing in this area now.  You can also see some of the additional walls and bunkers inside the Castle walls in this picture.    The flag pole has been extended to 16' and has the flag hanging in place in this picture.

 The Inside Looking Out

This shot was taken from the top level of the Castle looking down the right side.  The Cemetery of Paintball Past goes for 150' and the boundary line is about 150' behind the Graveyard.  Players can move up thru the Graveyard and if lucky, into the Mini-Castle in the shade near the tape line before making a final assault on the Castle.

This is a shot was taken while standing on the top level of the Castle in the center looking straight out the front. The Urban Village is in the center with some extra spools behind them.  More houses will be added later.  The "Wishing Well" is a good area to stop and wish for more paint when attacking.....

horizontal rule

This shot is taken while standing on the top level of the Castle from the left end looking towards the Attackers Reinsertion Gate.  It is about 100 yards behind the blue spool in the background. The boundary line is just to the left of the blue spool on the left.  Attackers can emerge from the small creek bed between the two spools on the left if desired and try to work up into the trenches or Mini-Castle to mount an attack on this side.

horizontal rule

A shot looking towards the new Staging Area from the upper level in the center. The safety net can be seen in this photo.  Eliminated players may exit to either end of the net or make their way back to their reinsertion area.  The foxhole on the left is right up on the left tape line and is about 16' wide and dugout behind the mound.  The Mini-Castle is for transition from bunker to bunker and to stage an attacking force behind.  The left end of the long dugout trench bunker is to the right of the Mini-Castle and is about 40 feet long and dug out about 4 feet deep behind the dirt mound.  The Bermuda grass is starting to take hold!

A Couple of Ground Level Shots

Standing on ground level on the right side of the Castle about halfway between the Castle and the Mini-Castle while looking down the tape line past the Mini-Castle and thru the Graveyard.  The tree line in the left edge of the picture provides cover for the dry creek bed.

horizontal rule

Standing at ground level on the left end of the Castle extension wall looking towards the Attackers Reinsertion Gate.  It is out of sight in the trees but is a little over 200 yards from here!

The New Staging Area for Castle and Scenario Games

This shot is looking into the new staging area from the walkway coming into it from the top.  It's graded and netted and one ref table is in place. The area was seeded a while back and with the almost daily rains lately the Bermuda is starting to show! The net is about 20' from the string line so spectators can watch and players can stage in the shade before reinsertion.

horizontal rule

 Reinsertion path for Defenders

This shot was taken from the end of the ref table in the previous picture.  The strings with orange ribbons on the North side of the Staging Area lead to the Defenders Reinsertion Area. Just follow the orange ribbon road to Wonderland......

horizontal rule

If you walk up to the end of the path in the previous picture and turn left, this is what you see.....the Defenders Reinsertion Area is at the end of this path. The path is protected by a 20 foot line of trees between it and the game area.

horizontal rule

This is a shot showing the back of the Castle from the Defenders Reinsertion Area.  The Defenders will be reinserted between the two poles on the left side of the picture.  There will be two pop ups placed behind the start gate as shade for the Defenders to use while waiting for reinsertion.  There will also be a string across the road from the trees on the right to the closest pole on the left but it's left out for now as we use the road while working on the field.

horizontal rule

 Reinsertion path for Attackers

While standing at the Ref table, look South and follow the string with orange ribbons to the Attackers Reinsertion Area.

horizontal rule

Follow the path safely around the game boundary to the slot in the woods on the right.

horizontal rule

Follow thru the woods and and into the shaded reinsertion area.

horizontal rule

This shot was taken while standing in the Attackers Reinsertion Area. This area was chosen because it has some nice large shade trees for cover. The two posts in the center of the picture are the entry gate for reinsertion. The orange ribbon just to the right of the gate pole is where the reinsertion path emerges from the staging area. From the start gate, you can go up to the right of the spool in the picture, then thru the edge of the brush and into the rest of the Spoolyard or head left and go up thru the Urban Village or go even further left and go up thru the dry creek bed or Graveyard. It's a little over 200 yards to the Castle from the start gate so you can take it easy for a minute but it gets intense as you get closer. The area still needs to be cleaned and trimmed.

horizontal rule

 Various Attack Paths

This shot is looking to the right while standing in the Attackers Reinsertion Gate area. The Spoolyard begins here and goes for about 100 yards before getting to the front line.

horizontal rule

If you walked up to the spool in the previous picture and stood beside it, this is what you would see.  The Castle is in the center of the picture about 150 yards away directly behind that large cedar tree.  The edge of the Urban Village is on the left edge.

horizontal rule

This shot taken while standing in the Attackers Reinsertion Gate and looking down the left side towards the Graveyard.  You can just barely see one of the Graveyard markers in the center of the picture - yeah, that little tiny white thing way out there....

horizontal rule

If you walk about halfway to the Graveyard from the insertion gate and look to the right, you can see the Castle up thru there.  Only 100 or so yards to go up thru the back edge of the Spoolyard and into the Urban Village, that gets you to the front line!

horizontal rule

This picture was taken from the same place as the one above but looking towards the Graveyard.  It's across the creek and still 75 yards from here!

horizontal rule

This shot was taken while standing at the left back corner.  The brush and sticks have been cleared since this picture was taken. You can see the Castle in the background but it's still almost 200 yards from here!  The dry creek bed is between here and the Urban Village.

horizontal rule

Work continues.......minor clearing and cleaning, the dirt work in the play area is complete and grass is seeded and starting to show. A few other surprises will be hauled down when ready to install...leveling the new reinsertion area is complete and netted....more walls and mazes to be added. We also have a few more large spools to add in and around the field both outside and inside the Castle to be delivered.  The Attackers Reinsertion Area still needs finishing.

It's progressing nicely and starting to look like the preliminary sketches drawn over a year ago!
